Terry Bollea is an actor and professional wrestler who uses the ring names “Hulk Hogan” and “Hollywood Hogan.” It was the popularity of Hogan that influenced professional wrestling’s success as a pop culture phenomenon. He cultivated a large fan base, particularly among children. With the pop culture appeal of professional wrestling that began in the 1980s, Hogan helped draw celebrities into involvement with the industry, including Cyndi Lauper, Mr. T, and Dennis Rodman. However, in the former WWF (World Wrestling Federation–the company later changed the business name to World Wrestling Entertainment after losing a suit to the World Wildlife Fund), Hogan was indicted and admitted to using steroids. As Hollywood Hogan, he worked as a heel (villain) throughout much of his career with World Championship Wrestling, and briefly resumed the Hulk Hogan persona in the WWE, culminating in a match against the Rock. Hulk Hogan currently works for Total Nonstop Action (TNA). He is the father of Brooke Hogan, and appeared with his family in the VH1 reality show, Hogan Knows Best. He also hosted a brief revival of American Gladiators, and Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling. Earlier in his career, Bollea also competed on the roster of New Japan Pro Wrestling and the American Wrestling Association (AWA). As an actor, he has had roles in Rocky III, the A-Team (TV Show), Mr. Nanny, the Thunder in Paradise franchise, and most recently as a voice actor in Gnomeo & Juliet. His fans are referred to as “Hulkamaniacs.” In 2014, Hogan returned to the WWE to heavily promote the WWE Network, and was even named as the “host” of Wrestlemania XXX, in which he appeared in the ring with both Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Rock.
In Marvel Comics Presents #45, a parody of Hulk Hogan encounters Mr. Fixit, the grey Hulk. The story ends with Fixit definitely defeating the overbearing Hogan.
