 Hyottoko literally means “Fire Man” or “Flame Man” he is one of the Oniwabanshū members that decided to go with Aoshi after leaving Okina caring for Misao.Â

 Hyottoko received no prosperous government job offers because he had competency in only one skill. He meets Sanosuke and kenshin in battle when megumi rebels against their employer Kanryu the opium deale. He is defeated by Sanosuke before being carried off by Han’nya. Later he dies while charging for Kanryū in protection of Aoshi.

Physical appearance
 Tall and imposing, he has a massive belly to match his freakish height, in contrast he has a small head and feet and very pronounced front teeth
Skills and abilities

His massive belly makes him nearly impervious to direct physical attacks. Hyottoko mainly breathes fire at his opponents, by means of a large oil bag he keeps stored in his stomach and a nozzle he keeps in his mouth. He lights the flames by using his front teeth, which he replaced with flint.
