Hugh Mann was an amateur inventor who while brilliant was never sure if what he had just invented would turn out to be a vacuum cleaner or a light bulb, or as it usually turned out something a great deal more strange.     
  

Creator

This character was created by early newspaper comic innovator Charles Voight who started in in newspaper comics at the age of 14 in 1901 and started doing comic books just two years before his death.
