Origin
Ironhide is one of the older Autobots around, and also one of the most memorable in the series. His Southern drawl and intense dislike of Decepticons make him so. As an Autobot, Ironhide is an officer, just as Jazz and Prowl. Ironhide leads the military strategy team, and as such is very instrumental in the heat of combat. He is also known prominently as a bodyguard for Optimus Prime, so great is his battle experience. Ironhide’s minivan vehicle form is built tough, just like his robot form. Ironhide, though an officer first and foremost, is often seen as a standalone warrior that fights without Prime, or even something to protect. As soon as Decepticons are present, Ironhide’s circuits will long to disable theirs.
Creation
Originally created for the toy line of Transformers, Ironhide made his first appearance in the Transformers Miniseries in 1984. This was soon thereafter followed by a monthly series of the same name

Infiltration
Ratchet, while being chased by Thundercracker sends a request for help to Ironhide, but Ironhide rejects it believing that at best it would be tenuous and at worst a complete waste of resources. Soon, Ironhide, along with Prowl and Sunstreaker, arrive and shoot down Thundercracker but then they apprehend Ratchet for violating rules and going against orders. Later, he secretly sends a pulsewave to Optimus Prime to come to Earth based on the situation. After Ratchet infiltrates the Decepticons’ Nebraska base, he sends a message to Ironhide and Prowl about what he believes the Decepticons have been doing on Earth. Ironhide interprets it as Megatron being on Earth with an infiltration unit, which has been fueling themselves with a new energy source so they don’t know how powerful they are. Ironhide and other Autobots led by Prowl then head to Oregon, where the Decepticons’ command bunker is located. They arrive in time to help Bumblebee and Ratche who were discovered by the Decepticons.

In addition to his enormous durability, he is also incredibly physically strong and powerful, and often engages his enemies in hand-to-hand combat and punches his foes into submission. But, if needed, he also has a gun he playfully calls his “water gun” that can shoot a stream of any number of liquids up to 2000 ft.
