Major Story Arcs
After World War II
After the war, Izzy goes back to Brooklyn, settles down with his wife and runs his father’s mechanic shop. Izzy remained close friends with his former teammates and even joined them later on when Nick and the rest of the military strike squad fought alongside each other during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. It was during this time that Izzy made the rank of sergeant.
Izzy had two sons and one daughter. He eventually turned the family business into a string of car dealerships, passing those down to his sons after some time. During a reunion with the Howlers, Izzy ends up shot, but luckily makes a full recovery.
Joining S.H.I.E.L.D.
Eventually Izzy is asked, together with the other Howling Commandos, to work for S.H.I.E.L.D., the world peacekeeping organization. Izzy accepts the invitation. Some years later, when Nick’s organization is corrupted by a sentient Life Model Decoy and nearly destroyed from within, Cohen serves with the group until it can get back on its feet.
Years later, Cohen and his friends had to deal with Nick Fury’s death, mostly correctly guessing it was some sort of ruse or LMD. They were fooled in one instance where the vigilante Punisher, not in his right mind, had slain a Fury LMD. For a brief time, the Howlers thought they had lost their sergeant, but it was later on revealed the true Nick Fury was still alive.
World War Hulk
During World War Hulk, Izzy Cohen is the SHIELD agent in charge of trying to bring in renegade Hulk allies Amadeus Cho and Hercules.
Marvel Zombies 3
Izzy is later seen as one of the A.R.M.O.R.S. agent whom specializes in counteractions to any zombie related threads, along with other agents.
Secret War and Secret Invasion
When S.H.I.E.L.D. was decommissioned and restructured into H.A.M.M.E.R, Izzy left along with many of his old Howler teammates, such as his friend Dum Dum Dugan, to form their own private mercenary operations in memory of the Howling Commandos. The team assisted Nick Fury on a few of his operations with his Secret Warriors team. Eventually, a mission let the team of old Howler’s in a fight against Hydra, which caused many of Izzy’s old friends to die. Izzy however survived all battles and is one of the few remaining living original members of the Howling Commandos. He is part of a yearly reunion of the living remaining members of the Howling Commandos.
