Partners
After Sara Pezzini loses her partner in Rialto, Jake gets his place. He is almost immediately pulled into the Witchblade‘s web. He witnesses the battle between Kenneth Irons and Pezzini. He along with Pezzini is temporarily relived from duty. He takes the time and visits his folks in California. When Tora No Shi attacks the NYPD, he rushes back to force. He is there, when Ian Nottingham takes The Darkness and Witchblade powers.
In the battle where Pezzini tries to stop Nottingham and get her Witchblade back, he gets hurt and is hospitalized. He is no longer a partner to Sara. There Sara uses Witchblade to heal him.
When Sara’s new partner attacks him with Excalibur and wants him to leave the force, he kills him. He takes back his former position as Pezzini’s partner. On one of the investigations Sara and Jake happen on a Coin of Solomon. Jake picks it up and it merged with his forearm. Sara‘s Witchblade pulled it out, and it fell into a bystander’s hands, who then disappeared.
Soon Jake starts to date Sara’s sister Julie Pezzini. Worried for her strange behavior he follows Julie and sees her breaking the law, Jake arrests her. When a strange wave of depression washes over New York, Jake wants to shoot Julie, but is stopped by a guard. He is suspended from work.
Death
Jake watches over Pezzini when she’s in coma. When she wakes up she reconnects to the Witchblade and it attacks Jake, and before he drifts away, he admits that his love for Sara and ends up in coma himself. Later When he awakes he brings back an demon’s spirit with him and is taken as the demons vessel. Sara battles him and the evil spirit and weakens them. Jake temporarily regains his senses and kills himself, to prevent taken as a host again.
