Jake Sully took a job of his twin brother after he was killed, since he matched the DNA of his brother. He flew to recently discovered moon, Pandora, that housed a rare and expensive mineral that humans wanted to mine. He piloted a genetically engineered alien-human hybrid body to interact with the natives of the moon. He was taught their culture and he learned to love them. He even fell in love with one of the natives, Neytiri with whom he ceremoniously mated. Jake eventually turned against his own people to save the native inhabitants from human greed. After humans were driven off of Pandora, he transferred his consciousness into the genetically engineered Avatar body and lived as one of the Na’vi.
