Janice Rand was James T. Kirk ‘s yeoman on the USS Enterprise in the first season of the television show Star Trek. Even though she was only in a handful of episodes that season, she became a beloved cast member and her character has been used in novels and comic books ever since.
Biography
Janice started her career on the star ship U.S.S. Enterprise, serving as Kirk’s yeoman. As such, she was involved in some of the ship’s most harrowing adventures. The salt vampire that had infiltrated the ship got its knuckles rapped while disguised and trying to take food from the plucky yeoman’s plate. And when a transporter accident split Captain Kirk into passive and aggressive entities, her successful resistance to an assault by the aggressive persona left scratch marks on its face, allowing it to be found out later. She was even wiped out of existence by the enhanced human boy named Charlie.
Janice was also part of the crew that discovered a second earth almost exactly like the Sol Earth in every way. The planet was exactly like earth in every way but all the adults were killed due to an attempt to stop aging. When Janice and her crew went to the surface of the planet they all contracted the disease and it was only due to the work of Leonard McCoy and Spock that they were able to survive and cure the disease.
Years later around the time the Enterprise was refitted Janice became the transporter Chief. After that Janice was able to active the rank of Lieutenant and served aboard the ship U.S.S. Excelsior under command of Captain Hikaru Sulu.
