Batman: The Killing Joke

In Alan Moore’s graphic novel, Batman: The Killing Joke, it was revealed the Joker, before his accident, was once married to a woman named Jeannie. She was heavily pregnant with his child. One day, she was reported dead by a household accident. Loosing Jeannie and the unborn child drove to Joker’s insanity.

Some time after The Killing Joke, it was then revealed that Jeannie’s “accident” was caused by a crooked cop named Oliver Hammet.

In the third and final issue of the miniseries, Batman: The Three Jokers, it is revealed that Jeannie is still alive and well along with her son. It was revealed that she and the GCPD faked her death for fear that her husband would physically abuse their child. She moved to Alaska where she gave birth to a boy. Only Batman knows the truth about her ordeal, for his also knows The Joker’s secret identity as well, and checks in on them from time to time. She is unaware of her ex-husband’s criminal exploits as The Joker.
