Jeff was a private investigator who was studing the old Linden Kidnapping case where the son of millionaire architect Robert and his unnamed wife’s son was kidnapped. Mr. Linden paid the ransom for his son but never got his son back and soon afterwards Mrs Linden died of a broken heart. Mr. Linden lived his life as a recluse, never leaving or going outside his estate and had a hatred for law enforcement because they never recovered his kidnapped son. Clark Kent was used as bait to see Mr. Linden posing as his long lost son. During the reunion ex-associate Matthew Curtis who was Mr. Linden’s security guard in disguise attempted to kill Mr. Linden due to being exposed by Mr. Linden for selling substandard building materlals which sent Matthew Curtis to prison. Jeffrey then told Mr. Linden that he is his real son and that he is police lieutenant detective. Jeff was left abandoned by the kidnappers and ended up being adopted. He attended school in Smallville and was a classmate of Clark Kent.
