Jerry along with Barb, Joey, and a number of other teenagers protested the building of a factory where a park was already in place. This put Jerry at odds with his father Sam Westman who is the owner of Westman Construction Company and was hired to level the park and build the industrial complex that would replace it.
Namor the Sub-Mariner decided to stand with the young protesters after a couple of employees turned to violence. The protesters reminded him that damage to their environment also effects the oceans so that it’d be wise to help them get some awareness by showing up and one of their meetings. Not only did Namor show up in support Sam Westman did as well, only he was there to attack the Sub-Mariner in his demolition machine dubbed Brutivac. Just when Sam had the mighty Sub-Mariner in a position of vulnerability and tried to run him down Jerry stepped in the way only to get struck by the Brutivac instead. The impact caused Sam to snap out of his moment of madness and allowed him to reflect on all he’s done. Jerry ended up being alright so he and his father thanked Namor and decided it best to stop working so hard and to spend some time together instead.
