Origin
Jet Powers was an athlete and engineering genius who from his base in a carved out mesa in the West flew out to confront a number of menaces from space threatening the Earth.
At first working alone he is later joined in his mission by former villainess Su Shan.
Together they deal with space war lords, alien swarms of intelligent insects, evil inventors with earthquake machines, or rays that turn paper into useless white powder, natural disasters from outer space, and a disreputable disgraced general who tries to turn America into a dictatorship under his control.
Creators
Jet Powers was created by Bill Powers and Gardner Fox and ran for four issues in A-1 Comics, Magazine Enterprise’s tryout comic, but did not prove popular enough to gain a regular series.
The series is of note for having one of the first interracial couples in comics, also instead of being a series of disconnected stories the adventures of Jet and Su refer to past adventures, so that in one story a renegade disgraced general is able to create a fascist dictatorship in America because of the havoc caused by an unrelated disaster from outer space that took place in a pervious issue.
