Jim Phelps is the leader of an IMF team. They are called to stop terrorism and any form of wrongs which are aimed at the United States. He selects other IMF agents to help carry out the plan usually with mis-direction and scare talents. He has been an agent for IMF since the 1960s. Greg Morris who played Barry in the 1960-70s Mission Impossible tv series was not pleased with the 1996 movie by Cruise making the character Phelps turn bad. He said that the original actor Peter Graves would have been appalled by that because he had made the character be true to his country.
