Jimmy Everett was the friend of Harold Schmidt a scientist working on a shrinking formula. When Doctor Schmidt fell asleep Jimmy sneaked a drink of the mixture causing him to shrink to the size of a coin. Thankfully for Jimmy Doctor Schmidt had the foresight to create an antidote that brought Jimmy back to normal. Shortly after being cured Jimmy insisted that Doctor Schmidt make him his assistant.
