Job

The Biblical character who is afflicted with a great many sufferings. His life is paralleled to that of Tyrone.

In a distant land, there was a man named Job. God had blessed Job with everything he had. God was very proud of Job. Satan made a wager with God, stating that if Job had lost all of his blessings he would curse God’s name. God allowed Satan to take Job’s blessings away but not his life. Satan killed all of Job’s property, livestock and children. Job shaves his own head and tears his clothes, but still doesn’t blame God. Next, God allows Satan to take away Job’s good health (but not his life). Job loses so much weight and is plagued with open sores. Job’s friends all insist that Job has angered God and should apologize for his sins. Job insists that he has done nothing wrong and lashes out at his friends. God then speaks to Job; “I am in charge of the universe. I am in charge of everything that exists! You cannot understand my ways. You cannot know the greater good I desire for you. Your place is simply to trust in me.” Job apologizes to God and receives twice as many blessings.
