Johnny Halfbuck was a morally ambiguous con man and chiseler who wanted to be rich, but didn’t want to do any hard work to earn it. Always on the lookout for the next way to easy money he enviably found himself going up against hardcore hoodlums for the same money, so that in the end the really, really bad guys were taken down with Johnny surviving but once again broke.
