Josiah X

Origin

Josiah Bradley was genetically created by the U.S. government, when trying to duplicate another successful creation of the super soldier. They child they created was genetically Isaiah and Faith Bradley’s, although a surrogate mother was used. This surrogate mother escaped the government with Josiah and fled. Faith, and Josiah’s sister, Sarah Gail, helped her allow Josiah to escape.

Josiah was then left at a Catholic orphanage and grew up there, outside of Boston. Josiah’s powers revealed themselves when he lashed out at one of the orphanage nuns while in his early teens. Believing he had accidentally killed Sister Irenia, he fled. Under the assumed name of Josiah Smith he entered the U.S. Army.

Josiah X was created by Chris Priest and Joe Bennett and first appeared in The Crew Issue 1 (2003).

Major Story Arcs

Soldier

Josiah served several tours in Vietnam, becoming a seasoned and experienced veteran. His unit was was made up of primarily Black soldiers and were nearly killed on a mission by an inconsiderate and racist officer’s order to bomb the area while they were still on patrol. His assault on the heartless officer was rewarded with a court martial. Josiah was sent back to the States to serve out his sentence in a stateside military prison. Blood tests at a secret research facility in proved he was the missing super-soldier serum baby. His surrogate mother was brought to prison to confirm this, and when she was she helped Josiah escape a second time.
