He is one of the first to ever graduate from Captain Yamamoto’s academy. He also was trained by Yamamoto’s. along with his best friend Shunsui Kyoraku. over they years he grew strong and became one of the 13 squad captains.He also became sick from tuberculosis. which in one of his bouts with changed his hair white.

Ukitake is well-respected and highly honorable, and always treats those around him with respect, even those who are weaker or not as highly ranked as he is. Due to his high moral code, Ukitake will never let any harm come to either his underlings or those who attempt to protect them. He refuses to give up when he believes something is wrong and will break a rule to do what is right.He has the ability to correctly judge people’s character, as noted by Yamamoto, and knows when they are lonely.
Agent of the Shinigami Arc
Ukitake first appears in Rukia’s flashback when she is contemplating whether or not to help out Ichigo in his battle. It appears from Rukia’s mermory that he was both a friend and teacher.
Soul Society Arc
He is first seen both in the manga and anime series, when he is told of Sosuke Aizen’s death. Later he appears trying to stop Byakuya Kuchiki from killing Ganju Shiba in the Shrine of Pertinence. He later prevents Ganju and Hanatoro Yamada from execution by sending them to prison. After hearing Rukia’s execution date was moved up he consulted and tried to convince Byakuya to do something, but Byakuya could care less and due to the stress of the situation J?shir? shortly succumbs to tuberculosus. He decides to try to request a hearing with Central 46, but upon being turned down, he sets out to find other means. His new plain was to unseal the Shih?in Shield, an artifact belonging to the Shih?in clan. Using it he arrives at the execution area and destroys the S?kyoku along with Shunsui Ky?raku. After a brief battle with Yamamoto. It was revealed that S ?suke Aizen was a traitor. When Aizen is captured, he seems genuinely put out that the former Captain has become ‘this corrupt’ and voices his opinion on the matter while Aizen is escaping with Gin Ichimaru and Kaname T? sen. Aizen responds to Ukitake by saying he is arrogant. As thanks for helping save Rukia, Ukitake gives Ichigo a badge that permits him to legally hunt Hollows in his hometown and allows him to transform into his Shinigami state at will, making him a Substitute Shinigami.
Bount Arc
Ukitake appears during the Bount invasion during which time he and Shunsui Ky?raku and Hitsugaya look for information on the Bounts while in the laboratory. He also announces the news to the other high ranking officers about the missing information who probably wouldn’t have come in if they knew it wasMayruri Kurotsuchi who had ordered the meeting.
He seems about to act when Rukia comes under attack in her weakened stated however, Byakuya acts quickly enough to save her. While Ichigo is fighting Jin Kariya. Ukitake with his 3rd Seat officers, Kiyone Kotetsu and Sentar? Kotsubaki and the rest of his squad are assigned to assist in locating and destroying the remaining J?kaish?.
Arrancar Arc
J?shir? later appears in the series alongside Sh?hei Hisagi discussing Rukia’s friendship with Orihime and Sh?hei’s position as temporary Captain of 9th Division.
New Captain Arc
Jushiro Ukitake is present at the Captains Meeting which is where Sh?suke Amagai is first introduced in the series and also as the new Captain of the 3rd Division. Later in the story he is seen along with his best friend and fellow Captain Shunsui. He and Shunsui are also show discussing Ichigo seems to cause trouble around the Soul Society. By Ukitake’s facial expression you can tell is uneasy over the current state of affairs where noble families in Soul Society reside. Ukitake is later seen storming the Kasumi?ji household with Shunsui where they shut down the experiments concerning the Bakkoto.
