Enforcerer then boss of the Yakuza, he starts hunting down Ichi the Killer convinced that he maight be the perfect partner to satisfy his needs for pain and desperation. He’s at the same time terrified and thrilled at the idea of fighting Ichi.

In Takashi Miike’s movie, Kakihara is interpreted by actor Tadanobu Asano. The fact that he’s far more attractive than his paper counterpart is intentional: Miike thought that it would have helped the general public to be invested in the character quest, since in both medium he has far more screen time than the actual protagonist.
