Karana was held captive in New Japan by it’s A.I. ruler, Father. The Eternal Warrior, tasked as the geomancer’s protector, was unable to reach New Japan to free her. After Rai and his companions declare war on Father and begin fighting for the liberation of New Japan, she is freed from her prison by Lula Lee and Grace (Lula’s positronic companion). Grace watches over her in Lula’s hideout until Father’s self defense protocol, unknowingly activated by Spylocke and Lula, begins to tear the floating city apart. As they flee Grace is crushed by falling debris and convinces Karana to climb in the escape pod alone.
