Kariooq was created by John Byrne in 1985 and first appeared in Alpha Flight # 24.

Kariooq is capable of corrupting matter. As a mythological creature, he may possess other powers.
Weaknesses
Kariooq is vulnerable to ice which he refers to as “the great preserver.”
