Origin
Kulap Vilaysack, a former cop, was kicked off the GCPD force for castrating a suspected pedophile and did time in Arkham Asylum after the man was proven innocent. She was eventually released by Knightfall and joined her team, The Disgraced. After that team disbanded, she joined The Movement in Coral City.
Creation
Katharsis was created by Gail Simone and Alitha Martinez. She first appeared in 2012’s Batgirl #10. Her name and appearance are based on actor, comedian, and podcast host Kulap Vilaysack.
