Katja Zukov is an expatriate psychic medium Russian in America. To improve her chances in her field, when Katja was young, her parents moved from Soviet Russia to America, leaving their younger son Mikas behind with a grandmother, with the intention of sending for him at a later date, but soon after arriving in America, the Zukov’s died of environmental cancer caused by poisonous fumes they were exposed to in Russia. Mikas was left abandoned and resents that.
Katja, stranded without family in America was placed in an orphanage where she met Assistant District Attorney Ben Feldman, who was so impressed he adopted her to raise alongside his son Jules, who as an adult is still her best friend and business manager.
