When her mother died, Kayla was forced to take care of her little brother Billy and provide for them both. She started a shop called Cup O’Joe on King Street, next to an abandonned bakery. Some time later, in that bakery, the Gingerdead Man was resurrected.
After hearing screams from the bakery, she sent for some cops. The unprepared cops were killed by the Gingerdead Man. Kayla then took it upon herself to destroy the Gingerdead Man and his army of Mini-Gingers. She stopped the Gingerdead Man by throwing him into a cup of hot coffee, which dissolved him.
