Keizer Ghidorah

Origin

In Godzilla: Final Wars, Keizer Ghidorah first appears concealed in a meteorite of unknown origins. After the meteor is shot down by Godzilla, Keizer Ghidorah makes his first physical appearance in his first form called Monster X. After battling Godzilla for some time, Monster X transforms into Keizer Ghidorah. It is unknown if Keizer Ghidorah is an Xilien creation or if he is just a space going monster that the Xiliens discovered and put under their control.

Keizer Ghidorah’s comic origins are just as mysterious as they are in Final Wars. Keizer Ghidorah first appears in the comic Godzilla: Ongoing as one of the three space monsters. His origin is further explored in the comic Godzilla: Rulers of Earth where it is implied that he and King Ghidorah are a part of the same species.

History

Godzilla: Final Wars

Keizer Ghidorah makes his first appearance in the 2004 film Godzilla: Final Wars, where he arrives on Earth concealed in a meteorite. Before the meteorite can reach Earth, Godzilla shoots it down over Tokyo. Keizer Ghidroah then emerges from the meteorite in his first form called Monster X. Monster X is considerably more powerful than the rest of the Xilien’s kaiju, and appeared to be about on par with Godzilla. The Xiliens send out Gigan to help Monster X but, he is promptly dispatched by Mothra, leaving Godzilla and Monster X to battle it out 1 on 1 again.

After the Xilien Mothership is destroyed, Monster X finally transforms into his second form, Keizer Ghidorah. This new form is much more powerful than the first, and he easily overpowers Godzilla.

After giving Godzilla a serious beating, Keizer Ghidorah then starts to suck Godzilla’s life energy, nearly killing him. This leads to the crew of the Gotengo intervening and giving Godzilla energy. The energy surge allows Godzilla to free himself from Keizer Ghidorah’s grip and overpower him. After throwing the dragon around and severing two of his heads, Godzilla throws Keizer Ghidiorah into the air and blasts him with a red spiral ray, destroying the alien kaiju for good.

Comics

Godzilla: Ongoing

Keizer Ghidorah appears in the comic series Godzilla: Ongoing as one of the four main antagonists. Keizer Ghidorah first appears in issue 8 as Monster X where he fights Mothra in New York and quickly overpowers her. Soon after Boxer and his crew arrive in Kiryu alongside Kumonga. Monster X easily dispatches Kumonga, then engages in a fight with Kiryu.

The battle is soon interrupted when Godzilla and SpaceGodzilla show up. After Godzilla defeats SpaceGodzilla, Monster X transforms into Keizer Ghidorah. Keizer Ghidorah overpowers Godzilla and almost defeats him until Rodan shows up to help. Using a sonic clap from his wings, Rodan severs Keizer Ghidroah’s middle head, allowing Godzilla to gain the upper hand and puts an end to Keizer Ghidorah.
