King

King

History

King, originally known as Alber, was part of an ancient race that originates from the Red Line known as Lunarians. Today, that race is widely believed to be extinct.

When he was a child, he was captured and experimented on by the Marines at Punk Hazard. Eventually, fellow research subject Kaido broke out and freed Alber as well. Believing that Kaido would be someone who could change the world, he swore his loyalty as his right-hand man and changed his name to King.

Wano Country Arc

Along with his fellow All-Stars Queen and Jack, King was one of the main enemies for the alliance between the Straw Hats, Trafalgar Law, Eustass Kid, and Killer.

He took on active role in fending off Kaido’s enemies, such as sinking Big Mom‘s ship and fighting the Nine Red Scabbards. He also took on Marco the Phoenix and Vinsmoke Sanji along with Queen. After Marco had to bow out and Roronoa Zoro joined in to aid Sanji, King begun his battle with Zoro while Queen took on Sanji.

After a brief scuffle, Zoro was knocked out of the Skull Dome by an attack from King, where they continued their battle and Zoro had difficulties trying to cut King due to the latter’s immense durability. He also started to be crippled by the amount of Haki that the sword Enma was drawing from him. As Zoro thought back to his childhood and everything he had learnt in Wano, he realised that Enma was testing him and decided to stop fighting it, allowing it draw all the Haki it could. This led to Zoro unleashing a wave of Conqueror’s Haki, which surprised King.

Zoro eventually managed to figure out that King’s defenses weaken when he puts out his flames and increases his speed, and managed to wait for the right moments to wound his opponent. In a last ditch effort to finish off an injured and tired Zoro, King attacked him with an enormous flame dragon hotter than magma, but Zoro managed to cut right through it, along with half of King’s right wing – and defeating him.

A week after the defeat of Kaido and the Beast Pirates, Admiral Ryokugyu snuck into Wano and attacked King and Queen, overpowering them with ease due to their injuries from the battle a week prior.

Powers

As Kaido’s right-hand man and the strongest amongst the All-Stars and Beast Pirates (excluding Kaido himself), King is one of the most powerful non-Emperor pirates in the series. This is also evident from his bounty of 1,390,000,000 berries. He was also able to take on Marco the Phoenix and was almost capable of overwhelming Roronoa Zoro before the latter figured out his weakness.

Lunarian Abilities

Pyrokinesis: As part of the Lunarian race, King is able to emit and control flame from his body. He can use this to amplify the power of his melee strikes or use the flames as an attack on its own – such as creating a dragon made of flame.

Durability: Due to his Lunarian blood, King also possesses an extremely high level of durability, being able to withstand blows from Marco and Zoro without damage. However, when the flames on his back extinguishes, his durability drops significantly.

He is able to transform into a pteranodon or hybrid form, greatly boosting his durability and speed, as well as giving him the ability to fly. Due to his Lunarian blood, King has their trademark features of large black wings on his back, dark brown complexion, and silver hair. He also has a black tattoo around his left eye. He is incredibly tall, standing at over 6 metres. After his defeat at the hands of Roronoa Zoro, he presumably has lost half of his right wing.

In order to cover up his Lunarian identity, King wears a full leather uniform that covers his face with a leather mask with goggles and spikes.
