Major Story Arcs
While in his chambers, the king is presented with a fresh prisoner. The king demands to know of the prisoner’s mission and, when no answer is given, proceeds to whip the man. The prisoner remains quiet. The king is about to whip the man again but is halted when Malu, one of his slave girls, spills a tray of water on his robes. In a fury, he sends the man away and turns his anger onto Malu.
Despite his treatment of Malu, she visits the prisoner anyway. When the king hears of this traitorous activity he sentences both she and the prisoner, Garth, to death by lions. The king mocks the two of them as they await their fate in the pit. He isn’t aware, however, that someone has let slip the secret exit from the pit. Malu finds it and the lions are released into the city. The king watches in horror as he is ripped apart.
