King Richard the Lion-Hearted

Richard I of England (1157 – 1199) was ruler from 1189 to his death from an arrow wound. He was a son of Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine. He took part in the Third Crusade (1189 – 1192). He was married to Berengaria of Navarre but died with no legitimate children. He was succeeded by his brother John I of England, sometimes called “the Lackland”.
