Sam Boyle was a settler, who (together with his family) falled prey to a group of Indians. His wife died while he got scalped and leaved back because the attackers thought that he is dead.
After this incidence Sam took up residence in that region and became a scout for the Army. Same time he started to wear a diabolical mask and fight against Indians who attack.
