Raised in the clan of Dathomirian Nightsisters, Kirana Ti had learned to value her Force talents as part of a group. After she and several other Nightsisters helped Luke Skywalker recover Jedi training records from an ancient space station, Kirana Ti saw the opportunity to learn to use her powers as an individual, leaving her daughter in the care of her sisters. She eventually became a valuable student at Skywalker’s Jedi Academy on Yavin 4.
