Major Story Arcs
One fine morning at the Sun Valley ski resort, Kirk runs headlong into Arlene Ellis. He compliments her on her looks and then leans in for a kiss, talking Arlene completely by surprise. He is in a hurry but promises to meet back with her in that same spot the next day. He is upset when she doesn’t show up and he asks around the resort to see if anyone knows who she could have been. He is finally tipped off that she is the secretary for Mrs. Carter Dudley and they have flown off to Palm Beach in Florida. He follows her.
Kirk finds Arlene on the beach and tries to convince her to give him a shot. Arlene asks him about his relationship with Mimi Larson and he explains that it is completely one-sided – a publicity stunt on her part. He informs Arlene that he will meet her at the pool in the morning; he has people watching Arlene’s routine. He is once again thwarted but his “spies” inform him that the ladies are sailing to Italy. He books the same passage.
He finds Arlene on the boat and the two get swept up in each other. They agree to marry when the boat docks and they will take Mrs. Dudley around Europe for their honeymoon.
