Created by John Wagner and Will Simpson, Kraken appears in the 2000AD series – Judge Dredd.
Originally a Judda, Kraken comes from the same genetic bloodline as Judge Fargo, but his ideals have been twisted by their leader, Morton Judd.
When Dredd destroyed Morton and his lost tribe of Judges, some of the Judda were saved. Created from the Fargo’s genetic stock, they were seen as too valuable to waste.
Kraken was the only Judda to succeed and become a Judge, actually replacing Judge Dredd when he took the long walk.
During the Necropolis the Sisters of Death take control of him and it’s only when Dredd returns to the city and wins it back that Kraken realises what he’s done. Dredd puts a bullet in him, at Kraken’s request.
