Lady Lynette

Lynette keeps insulting Gareth through their travel. This does not stop him from defeating the Red Knight, rescuing Lyonesse and earning his knighthood. Gareth proceeds to marry Lyonesse while Lynette marries Gaheris, a brother of Gareth.

The tale has been adapted to modern literature with some differences. For example the poem “Gareth and Lynette” by Alfred Tennyson makes Gareth indifferent to the charms of Lyonesse. He instead wants to woo and marry Lynette.
