Lapu-Lapu

In Western history we are told that Ferdinand Magellan was killed in the Philippines during his circumnavigation of the globe and it’s left at that as if it were done by unknown savages.

In the Philippines however the other side of the story is told.

On the morning of April 27, 1521 on the island of Maktan Pinoy warrior Lapu-Lapu (1491 – 1542) saw an invasion of aliens to his land and leading a group of other Mactan responded in force, driving them off and as a result killing Magellan.

Regarded as the first hero of the Philippines both a city and a fish were later named in honor of him.
