Lee is a Fallen Angel living in the city of Bete Noire, which means Black Beast. Bete Noire is actually Enoch, the city build by Cain as narrated in Genesis. The city is apparently sentient and has various mystical effects on its residents and visitors. It apparently also chooses who enters and leaves its limits. Outer forces, such as God, have no dominion or effect in the city. Lee has various adventures involving the city and its residents.
