Origin
Lee Granger, scientist / adventurer, flies over the deep, jungle to find the Arab slave traders.
His plane crashes, and he becomes friendly with a tribe of Pygmies. He teaches them modern science, and through his ingenuity, give the power of speech to Eric, his faithful lion.
After saving the Pygmies from the slave traders, they make him their king.
