History
Leonard was a black mutant from Mississippi who grew up surrounded by prejudice. He became a history teacher and then a politician to try and make life better for others like him. He became a friend to Beast and opposed Robert Kelly’s attempt to legislate against mutants.
Whilst the Capital building came under assault Leonard unleashed his mutants powers to defend it. Despite perishing Beast was able to broadcast Gary’s very last speech.
