Lews Therin Telamon

Origin

Lews Therin was born in the Age of Legends, and was one of the most powerful and accomplished Aes Sedai of the Age. He was named First Amongst Servants, making him the leader of the Aes Sedai. During the War of Power he lead the forces of the Light against the forces of the Shadow. He took it upon himself to seal the bore in the Dark One’s prison after the female Aes Sedai refused to go along with his plan. While he succeeded in creating a temporary seal, the Dark One was able to retaliate, and tainted the male half of the True Source. This drove all of the male Aes Sedai, including Lews Therin, mad. He returned to the home he shared with his wife Ilyena Sunhair and their children and slew every member of his family. He was confronted by the Forsaken Ishamael, who Healed him briefly of his madness. Realizing that he had killed everyone he loved, he drew too much of the One Power in despair, killing himself and creating Dragonmount. Some three thousand years after his death he was reincarnated in the form of Rand al’Thor, the Dragon Reborn.

Creation

Lews Therin was created by Robert Jordan for his book series The Wheel of Time, making his first appearance in the first book of the series, The Eye of the World.
