She was Sorted into Gryffindor and was a member of the Slug club . Lily met James Potter in gryffindor and disliked him for being arrogant and making fun of her friend Snape. Later in her fifth year after Snape called her a mud blood, she broke her friendship with him. In her seventh year Lily was made head girl and began dating James.

After Hogwarts she married James and had a son with him, Harry Potter, of whom she made Sirius Black the godfather. The couple, along with their friends Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew joined the Order of the Phoenix during the First Wizarding War. Later, Lily and James were forced to go into hiding after a prophecy was made concerning Lord Voldemort and their infant son.
