Lisa Yadōmaru

Origin

108 years ago Lisa is a former Lieutenant of the 8th Division under Shunsui Kyoraku. She resembles his new lieutenant a lot, they were mistaken to be sisters sometimes. She was sent to investigate the disapperance of shinigami’s in seiretei together with Shinij, Love, and Rose.

She tried to stop a hollowfied Mashiro and Kensei, but unsuccessful as they are too powerful for them to handle. Hachigen arrives and tries to stop both the hollowfied Kensei and Mashiro by putting a high level of binding kido on Kensei. Hachigen also restraints Mashiro.

Lisa and others discuss on how to help their comrades but Tosen arrives and uses his bankai to disable Lisa and the others senses. She is also hallowfied and left for dead by Aizen.

Yoruichi then takes them to save them from being killed or being half hollow. She is forced to leave her home and hide in Karakura Town.

Creation

Lisa Yad?maru (??? ??, Yad?maru Risa) is a supporting character of the BLEACH series that was created by Tite Kubo, It first began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2001. She was first introduced during the Arrancar story arc that began in Volume 21.

She first appeared in BLEACH Volume 24, CH. 214 “Immanent God Blues”.

Arrancar Arc

Lisa meets Ichigo when he comes to train to use his Vizard powers. She is among the Vizard that restrain Ichigo after nearly killing Hiyori. Lisa takes charge of Ichigo’s preparations to work on maintaining his powers for longer periods. Ichigo complains that nothing was wrong with his stamina and was bothered by not being able to control his hollow. Shinji knocks Ichigo out and everyone goes to the secret training ground below the warehouse. Lisa is the first to face Ichigo while his hollow was in control. She is able to defend herself quite well while Hiyori was nearly killed. Lisa spectates the others fighting Ichigo as his hollow powers slowly take over. She realizes when it is her turn again Ichigo may have to be killed with no sign of him regaining control. Lisa is prepared to strike when Ichigo was preparing to fire a cero off at Love. Fortunately Ichigo regained control and Lisa returned to her calm manner.

Fake Karakura Town Arc

Lisa arrives with the vizards when the shinigami are losing the battle versus the espada. Lisa is first to break away to find Shunsui pretending to be dead so he doesn’t have to fight. Lisa wants him to be awake to bear witness to her growth as a vizard. She helps her allies make quick work of the small force of gillian hollows brought by Wonderweiss. Lisa is able to shred gillians to pieces with a single swipe of her sword. Lisa joins Hiyori to aid Toshiro face off with Harribel, the 3rd Espada.

Powers & Abilities

Lisa possesses exceptional skill and power as a lieutenant in the Gotei 13. Captain Shunsui even had great faith in her strength. Her skills in swordsmanship are advanced, and she still remains able to be highly agile. The advantage of hollowfication gives her an incredible boost in power that ho other Soul Reapers can.

• Swordsmanship: All Soul Reapers are trained in sword combat, but Lisa has a level of fluidity that is rarely seen. She appears to be ambidextrous and can switch hands without the lose any power or accuracy.
• Hakuda (??, hakuda): Hakuda is a form of hand-to-hand combat taught to all Soul Reapers at the academy. Lisa is proficiency in hand-to-hand and combines it with her sword fighting skills. Her speed and agility make her a hard target to strike.
• Flash Step (??, shunpo): Flash Step is a technique that allows the Soul Reaper to moves at incredible speed that is hard to see.

Specialty Attacks:

• Senmaioroshi (???, senmaioroshi): This is a technique where Lisa uses multiple slashes with her sword shred a target into many pieces in a near instant. She once used this on a Menos Gran Class Hollow, a creature that most Soul Reapers would struggle to even cut.
• Panty-Flash Tornado (?????????, panchira torun?do): With this technique, Lisa plants her hands on the ground and performs a spinning split-kick, like a tornado, to inflict multiple strikes on an enemy. Lisa’s power with this skill as more than enough to push back Ichigo while in his hollowfied form.

Hollowfication

The process of Hollowfication is a unique ability that was a side effect of one of Aizen’s experiments on Soul Reapers. It gives the user the ability to summon a Hollow mask that greatly increases all their attributes. Their spiritual pressure, strength, and speed are all augmented. The training to control hollowfication is not easy, as it requires a person to tame their inner hollow before it can be controlled; then the use of the mask is limited by time.

The shape of the mask is unique to each person. Lisa’s mask is in a smooth diamond-shape with a cross-shaped slit in the center. While wearing this mask, only her left eye can be seen from the outside. To counter the time limit they have with the mask, Lisa only uses it in short bursts while fighting.

Weapons & Equipment

Zanpakut?

The Zanpakuto of Lisa Yadomaru is named the Haguro Tonbo (????), which translates to, “Iron Drink Damselfly”. The zanpakuto is capable of two transformations that display a swords unique skills and transform in shape. They can become larger or smaller and have a unique skill. Lisa’s transforms to a giant spear she uses with incredible skill and speed.

Sealed Form

The sealed form is the first stage of the zanpakuto. In this form it merely appears as an elegantly crafted katana with a long blade and slight curve. The guard is formed in a rectangular-shape formed of two squares and two smaller rectangles. The handle is wrapped in dark-blue cloth. This is the form that Lisa primarily uses in combat.

Shikai

The Shikai is the first released stage of the zanpakuto. It’s in this form that the zanpakuto takes on a unique form and all have some form of special ability. The release command for Lisa’s zanpakuto is “Smash” (??, tsubuse). Her Shikai combines both her sword and the scabbard. The blade has a massive increase in size to form a giant spear with a turquoise shaft and a spaded-blade at the point. The shikai special ability has yet to be seen

BLEACH (2004)

The BLEACH animated series is a direct adaptation of Tite Kubo’s original manga. It’s produced by Studio Pierrot and first began airing in October 5, 2004. Tier Harribel’s first anime appearance was in BLEACH – Episode 122 “Visored! The Power of the Awakened”, which aired on April 18, 2007. Her character in the Japanese series is voiced by Kanako Hattori, and the U.S. dub produced by VIZ Media is done by Tara Platt.

Games

As a series based mainly on fighting and battles, Lisa Yadomaru has made several playable appearances in the BLEACH series of games. Lisa’s game debut was in BLEACH: Heat of the Soul 4 (2007) for the Sony PSP. She appears frequently in the Heat of the Soul series, but mostly using her sealed form zanpakuto. It was in BLEACH: Heat of the Soul 7 (2010) that Lisa’s Haguro Tonbo’s shikai form is used, but the shaft is color brown.
