John Constantine first encounters the Lord of the Dance on Christma Eve. (Hellblazer #49) In this issue he reveals to John that he was once the pagan god of revelry. However, after most of Britain was converted to Christianity he was forgotten about and walked the land as a wayward spirit. John takes him to a local pub called the Stag & Hound for a night of carousing, singing and dance. Afterwards, he claims that the spirit has returned and reclaims his true form.
