Training Maxine
As the highest ranking Black Mask in North America after Erica Slaughter quit, it became Louis’ responsibility to train her replacement, Maxine Slaughter. He was reluctant to let another Order member into his swamp training house. He had been herding non-aggressive monsters to the swamp in secret, knowing the Order wouldn’t approve of his behavior.
He mostly took a hands off approach to training Maxine. He forced her to read and sent her out on hunting trips at night. However, his monster pets were difficult to track because they would actively avoid Maxine. Maxine was first confused about Louis’ use until she confronted him about the swamp monster being a type that wasn’t classified in the books.
Louis was attempting to teach her how to know when to follow rules and when to break them.
