Surprisingly, in the first Disney animated film, it is the villainous cat Lucifer who dies (by falling to his death, one of the most common forms of villain death in the Disney oeuvre) instead of wicked stepmother Lady Tremaine, who experiences no punishment for her villainy beyond her humiliated outrage at failing to thwart Cinderella and the loss of her cat Lucifer.
