Creation
Lumière is an original character to Disney’s version of Beauty and the Beast animated feature from 1991, having no counterpart in the original story nor any other versions of the story outside of Disney.
Origin
Lumière is one of the many former servants of Prince Adam, who was turned into furniture at the same time as Prince Adam was turned into The Beast, both done by the mysterious woman known as “The Enchantress.”
Major Story Arcs
Lumière was one of the active members of The Beast’s servant furniture, who helped to shed a light on The Beast to Belle, and becomes a close friend of her’s. Lumière in the film’s finale turned back into a human with the rest of the furniture.

Lumière was also part of the Beauty And The Beast direct to DVD sequels that vaguely happens in the middle of the original movie, since Belle is still a prisoner and Lumière is still a candelabra.
Other Versions
Once Upon A Time

Lumière appears in a single episode of the ABC drama live action series. Lumière was turned into a candelabra by The Wicked Witch in order to spy on Belle and Neal. Lumière is far more powerful in the series, being a pyrokinetic. Lumière betrayed The Wicked Witch to give Belle time to run away.
Beauty And The Beast (2017)

Lumière was a major character in the live action remake of the original animated feature, his role is nearly identical to his first appearance.
