Lydia Deetz as depicted in the cartoon is an aspiring artist with an interest in photography, video, drawing and sewing. Her only “powers” are the ability to summon Beetlejuice (a ghost) or enter the Netherworld at will. She lives with her father Charles and stepmother Delia. While the interaction between the two ladies of the family is strained, Delia is the only other artist in the family. She attends Miss Shannon’s School for Girls in Peaceful Pines, New England. She has a rivalry with schoolmate Clare Brewster.
