A young social worker based in New York City who works with the Perez family. After being physically attacked by one of the members of the family, Angelo Perez, she meets a police officer named Vince Sadek and they fall in love. She later manages to help Angelo. Though she begins to realize that they have differences, they are still madly in love. They begin to make wedding plans and while Lynn sees more and more cases where Vince acts in a way that she is not happy with, her love for him means that she is happily moving forward with the wedding.
On her the eve of her wedding Vince is murdered in an armed standoff. Following his death, she grieves for a time, but then gradually begins to rebel against her old lifestyle, as she calls in sick to work (eventually getting fired for doing so) and partaking in dance parties at clubs. She ends up dating a variety of men, all the while ignoring the attention of Phil and the advice of her roommate Peg.
She eventually ends up getting in a car accident but finds that Phil cares for her in the hospital. They eventually marry.
