Magnus the Black

Origin

Magnus is a Viking who comes from a hamlet in Norway called Brakstad. He was a household soldier of the local lord. He fought many battles for his lord. After one such battle, the surviving members of the enemy soldiers came to Magnus’ home and burned all there was. In the end, they had killed his wife.

After his wife had died, Magnus looked at the world around him. He saw the world changing, converting to Christianty, who preached love but enforced it by cruelty. It intrigued him and thus accepted the challenge to take Cardinal Farina up the treacherous Black Road to the north of Norway.
