Character History
Marcus Brand is a graduate student in the era of the Grendel Khan. He is studying the history of Grendel‘s many incarnations over history. He recently got a Grendel tattoo as part of his obsession. He also collects many Grendel toys and artifacts, including a possible scrap of Hunter Rose and Christine Spar‘s original mask.
A woman named Rita puts on a rally against the country’s army, Orion’s Sword, also known as the Grendel Corps. Russell shows up, although he doesn’t seem very invested in the issue. It is busted by the police and a fire starts.
Marcus talks about it with his roommate, who wonders if Rita is the new Grendel due to her incendiary actions. Marcus makes fun of the idea, but shows up to her next rally. Rumors that the government would send in the Grendel Corps turn out to be true. Rita starts a fight, and the Corps shoots at the crowd. Marcus follows Rita and asks if she is Grendel. She has no idea what he’s talking about. More troopers come up, and she is killed. Marcus surrenders.
Later in life, he gets his tattoo removed and regards that period of his life as an immature phase.
