Mario Castiglione

History

Mario Castiglione served as a U.S. Marine during World War II in the Battle of Iwo Jima. Mario was awarded the Purple Heart for Valor and the Bronze Star. The horrors that Mario experienced during the war was something he never wanted for his future children. After the war, he met his wife Louisa, had his son Frank and found work as a construction worker at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Mario passed away on the day that Frank considered enlisting in the Marines.

In the 2004 film his name is Frank Castle Sr. and played by Roy Scheider. Frank Sr. held a huge family reunion down in Puerto Rico. Father and son talk about the old days and Frank notices his father’s guns have been refurbished. Unfortunately, everything falls apart when Saint’s gang murders everyone at the reunion. Frank Sr. ends up getting stabbed.
