Mr. Bowers or Mastermind as he was dubbed by Iron Man was the leader of a group of thugs he called the Smashers. Mr. Bowers was an employee of a Stark Factory on Lakani island. He had been embezzling money from the plant for some time before he created the Smashers. The Smashers were put together to cause as much of a ruckus as they could so that the factory would get shut down which in turn would hide Bowers embezzlement. Bowers and his group were stopped easily enough by Iron Man.
